How it works
A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma with the highest concentration of platelets. Those platelets carry growth factors, and injecting them across the scalp puts those signals where the follicles are. The aim is to move miniaturising follicles back towards producing thicker hair, which takes months rather than weeks.
Typical course
Three or four sessions a month apart, then maintenance every four to six months.
Who it is not suitable for
Not used if you have a platelet or bleeding disorder, an active scalp infection, are on anticoagulants without your prescriber's agreement, or are pregnant. It will not regrow hair in an area that has been completely bald for years.

Questions people ask
Does it actually work?
The evidence is reasonably good for early to moderate thinning, and much weaker for advanced loss. It works best where follicles are still present but producing finer hair. Expectations set at consultation are the difference between a good outcome and a disappointing one.
Is it painful?
The injections sting, and the scalp is sensitive. We use a cooling device and local anaesthetic where needed. Most people find it uncomfortable for about ten minutes.
Do I still need medication?
If you are already on a prescribed treatment that is helping, keep taking it. This works alongside those, not instead of them, and stopping medication usually undoes progress.
